Why Gloves Are A Must-Have For All Beauty Salon Workers

why-gloves-are-a-must-have-for-all-beauty-salon-workers-barbies-beauty-bits

Why Gloves Are A Must-Have For All Beauty Salon Workers

Stylists as therapists—we've all been there! However, during my recent hair appointment, our conversation took an unexpected turn. Instead of the usual chat about my life, it was all about gloves! This got me thinking: why are they such a must-have in beauty salons?

While the black and white gloves I saw added a touch of elegance (I love the black gloves), there's a much more important reason for them—hygiene and safety.

In this article, Barbie's Beauty Bits Will Spill the Tea, Not the Germs, on why gloves are essential in beauty salons!

Maintaining Cleanliness: How Gloves Form A Protective Barrier

One primary reason gloves are a must for all beauty salon workers is to maintain cleanliness. Wearing gloves ensures that hands remain clean and free from residues from products used on clients. This is especially important if your salon offers facials and makeup applications that involve touching the face.

In this case, explore the internet, where you will likely find a reputable online gloves supplier who can offer you a great deal. These suppliers often provide discounts to bulk or repeat orders, making them an affordable and convenient choice as you can have your order shipped out and delivered.

Barrier Between Beauty And Bacteria

Another reason why all beauty salon workers must have gloves is because these help prevent the spread of bacteria, fungi, and viruses between clients and from the environment to the clients. This is crucial in maintaining a hygienic environment and ensuring the health of both clients and workers.

In addition, gloves can protect against infections. Workers in beauty salons often use sharp tools such as scissors, razors, and nail files, which can cause nicks and cuts. In this case, gloves provide a barrier that minimizes the risk of infections from minor injuries.

Furthermore, workers and clients may have allergies to certain products. Gloves reduce direct skin contact, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions.

Glove Up For Defense: Protecting Salon Workers From Chemical Battles

Remember that conversation I had with my stylist about those gloves? Turns out, they were about more than just looking good! One of the biggest benefits of gloves in the beauty salon is that you protect them from the chemicals that beauty products often contain.

Many beauty treatments involve harsh chemicals, such as hair dyes, bleaches, and nail polish removers. In these cases, gloves protect the skin from irritation, allergic reactions, and chemical burns. Gloves can also offer skin protection to salon workers.

The fight for beautiful hair and nails doesn't stop at chemicals! Salon employees also face constant exposure to water, shampoos, and other products that can take a toll on our hands. Gloves help protect against drying and dermatitis, a skin condition caused by irritation. Additionally, gloves prevent staining from coloring your hair and other products, keeping salon workers' hands looking professional throughout the day.

Gloves Offer Client Comfort And Confidence

Finally, clients feel more assured and comfortable knowing that salon workers are taking steps to maintain a sanitary environment. This is one thing many may look for before trying out a new hair salon.

Using gloves can give a sense of a sterile and controlled environment, which can be particularly reassuring for clients undergoing procedures requiring meticulous hygiene. Hence, gloves can enhance the salon's professional image.

In addition, using gloves can enhance the service quality your workers offer to your clients. Gloves can improve grip and precision when handling tools and applying products, contributing to better client outcomes.

Lastly, many health and safety regulations require gloves in salons to protect workers and clients. Adhering to these regulations helps avoid legal issues and potential fines.

Tips For Choosing Quality Gloves For Beauty Salon

Tip 1: Consider The Material Of The Gloves

When choosing quality gloves for your beauty salon workers, one of the primary things you must consider is the gloves' material. In this case, you can opt for nitrile gloves, which are highly durable and puncture-resistant. These provide excellent protection against chemicals. So, check the glove material's resistance to chemicals commonly used in your salon, such as acetone, hair dyes, and disinfectants.

Personally, I prefer nitrile gloves because they offer the best chemical resistance and are latex-free, making them suitable for workers and clients with latex allergies, like me!

You can also opt for vinyl gloves, which are cost-effective for short-term use and latex-free. However, they are less durable and offer less protection against chemicals than nitrile.

Salon workers also have the option to use latex gloves, which are popular due to their excellent elasticity, fit, and tactile sensitivity. However, some individuals may experience allergic reactions to latex. Additionally, it's essential to consider the texture of the gloves, as textured gloves provide a better grip, which is necessary when handling tools and products. Look for gloves with textured fingertips or fully textured surfaces for improved handling.

Tip 2: Factor In the Size And Fit

When choosing gloves for your beauty salon workers, ensure the size and fit are snug but not too tight or loose to avoid discomfort and reduced dexterity.

In this case, you may need to measure the hand sizes of your workers to provide the best fit. Then, choose gloves that are comfortable for extended wear and allow for some breathability to reduce sweat buildup. Nitrile gloves often offer good comfort and flexibility.

Tip 3: Opt For Reputable Brands That Sell Disposable Gloves

Purchase gloves from reputable brands that comply with relevant safety standards and certifications to ensure quality and reliability. Some brands offer thicker gloves than others, but you have to weigh each one's advantages and disadvantages. Thicker gloves provide better protection and durability but may reduce tactile sensitivity. In this case, choose gloves with appropriate thickness for the tasks performed.

Balance is critical depending on the function—thicker gloves are better for handling chemicals, and thinner gloves are better for precision work. Opting for brands that feature powder-free gloves is also a good idea.

Powder-free gloves are preferable for beauty salons as they reduce the risk of allergic reactions and contamination. The powder can also interfere with specific beauty treatments.

Think About Your Budget

While cost is a factor, remember you're dealing with harsh chemicals. Don't cheap out on gloves! Prioritize quality and protection over price. Rest assured that bulk purchasing from reliable suppliers can often reduce costs.

Choosing Your Weapons: Single-Use vs. Reusable

Finding suitable gloves depends on your salon's needs. Single-use gloves offer the highest level of hygiene for most beauty treatments, minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. Reusable gloves might be practical for specific cleaning tasks, but ensure proper cleaning and disinfection between uses. If sustainability is a priority, explore gloves made from biodegradable or environmentally friendly materials.

In Conclusion:

It turns out those seemingly simple black and white gloves, I commented on intially serve a much bigger purpose than just looking stylish! As we've explored, gloves are crucial to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both stylists and clients.

They go beyond aesthetics, ensuring cleanliness, preventing the spread of germs, and protecting workers from the harsh chemicals used in everyday treatments. Furthermore, using gloves can contribute to increased client comfort and confidence. Seeing stylists prioritize hygiene builds trust and loyalty, which is essential for any salon's success.

So, the next time you visit a salon and see stylists sporting gloves, remember: it's not just about aesthetics!! Gloves are a silent guardian, ensuring a smooth and safe experience for everyone involved.

Discover essential tips and tricks for caring for thick hair! From shampooing to styling, achieve healthy and luscious locks with confidence.

How To Care for Thick Hair: Tips and Tricks

This week we are sharing some ultimate hair tips. And today, we are discussing tips and tricks for thick hair. Thick hair can be a beautiful asset but comes with unique challenges. Proper care is crucial to keep it healthy, manageable, and looking its best.

This blog post will explore essential tips and tricks for caring for thick hair, helping you achieve the luscious locks you desire.

Use The Right Shampoo And Conditioner For Thick Hair

Choosing the right shampoo and conditioner is essential for thick healthy hair care. Look for products specifically formulated for thick or voluminous hair. These products often contain moisturizing and nourishing ingredients to provide hydration without weighing down your locks.

Avoid products that contain harsh sulfates, as they can strip away natural oils and cause dryness. Instead, opt for sulfate-free options that gently cleanse while maintaining the hair's natural moisture balance. Experiment with different brands and formulas until you find the best ones for your hair type.

Deep Condition Your Thick Hair Regularly

Thick hair tends to be more prone to dryness, so incorporating deep conditioning treatments into your routine is crucial. Deep conditioners and hair masks are specially formulated to penetrate the hair shaft and provide intense hydration.

Apply a deep conditioner once a week, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Leave it on for the recommended time before rinsing thoroughly. This practice will help restore moisture, improve manageability, and keep your locks healthy and lustrous.

Use Products To Help With Detangling Your Thick Hair

Thick hair is prone to tangling, which can be prevented by using the right tools for detangling. Investing in a wide-toothed comb is recommended, which is gentle on your hair and reduces the risk of breakage.

One of the best options is The Slider Wide-Tooth Comb from Drybar, a classic comb that can easily detangle wet or dry hair without pulling or tugging. This comb also helps to distribute the conditioner evenly throughout your hair.

In addition to using a wide-toothed comb, you can also use a detangling spray or hair oil, such as Moroccanoil Treatment Original, which is infused with argan oil and can help ease the detangling process while providing your hair with additional moisture.

Avoid Overwashing Your Thick Hair

While it may be tempting to wash your hair frequently, overwashing can strip away natural oils, leading to dryness and frizz. Thick hair generally doesn't require daily washing, so aim to wash your hair every 2-3 days or as needed.

Use dry shampoo between washes to refresh your roots and absorb excess oil. This will help maintain a healthy balance of oils in your hair, keeping it nourished and preventing it from becoming too dry.

Opt For Heat Protection When Your Have Thick Hair

Heat styling tools, such as flat irons and curling wands, can cause damage to thick hair if not used correctly. Before applying heat, always use a heat protectant spray or serum to create a barrier between your hair and the heat source.

Apply the product evenly throughout your hair, paying extra attention to the ends. This protective layer helps minimize damage, such as dryness, split ends, and breakage, allowing you to style your hair without compromising its health and integrity.

best-hair-dryer-todry-thick-hair-barbies-beauty-bits

Embrace Air Drying Your Thick Hair

Thick hair takes longer to blow dry, and excessive heat exposure can lead to dryness and frizzy hair. Whenever possible, embrace air drying your hair. After washing, gently squeeze out excess water with a microfiber towel, and allow your hair to air dry naturally.

If time is a concern, you can blot your hair with a towel to remove excess moisture and then use a diffuser attachment on a blow dryer, like the Inglam which uses a low-temperature and quick-drying effect, so you do not damage your hair. The diffuser helps distribute the airflow evenly, reducing frizz and enhancing your hair's natural texture and volume.

Schedule A Trim Regularly

Regular trims are an essential step to maintaining healthy and manageable locks. By scheduling a trim every 8-12 weeks, you prevent split ends from traveling up your hair shaft and causing further damage. This process removes damaged and dry ends, promoting healthier hair growth and overall hair health.

To achieve the perfect trim, your stylist should invest in a good pair of hair scissors. Regular trims will keep your hair healthy and help maintain the shape and style of your hair, preventing it from looking weighed down or unruly. So why not keep your locks looking fresh, vibrant, and full of life? Add a regular trim to your hair care routine today and give your hair the attention it deserves!

Updos like buns or ponytails can be voluminous and elegant. Loose waves and curls can enhance your hair's natural movement and body. Feel free to get creative and try different styles to find what suits your thicker hair the best.

The Ultimate Guide To Healthier Hair: 6 Essential Tips

protect-your-hair-from-environmental-damage-barbies-beauty-bits

The Ultimate Guide To Healthier Hair: 6 Essential Tips

Achieve the hair of your dreams with these six expert tips. From nourishing treatments to proper hair care routines, this guide has everything you need for healthier, fuller hair.

Eat A Balanced Diet For Healthy Hair

Maintaining a balanced diet is one of the most essential factors in achieving healthier hair. Your hair needs essential nutrients to grow and stay strong, so ensure you're getting various vitamins and minerals in your meals.

Include protein-rich foods, such as lean meats, fish, legumes, and fruits and vegetables for their vitamins and antioxidants. Remember to drink plenty of water to keep your hair hydrated from the inside out. You'll be on your way to healthier, more vibrant shiny hair by nourishing your body with the proper nutrients.

Use Hair Protectant When Using Hair Styling Tools

Using a hair protectant with your styling tools is essential to keep your hair healthy and looking beautiful. A hair styling iron like a curling wand, flat iron, and a hair dryer can add volume to your hair, but using them without a heat protectant can lead to damage and weaken your hair shaft.

Applying a heat protectant spray or serum creates a barrier between your hair and the high temperatures, reducing the risk of heat-induced damage. These products often contain ingredients like silicone or oils that help to seal the hair cuticle and lock in moisture. By using a hair protectant, you not only shield your strands from heat damage but also minimize frizz, prevent split ends, and promote overall hair health.

Remember to apply the protectant evenly throughout your hair, focusing on the ends and any areas that are more prone to damage. Incorporating this simple step into your styling routine will help to keep your hair looking smooth, shiny, and strong.

Avoid Overwashing Your Hair

It's important to be mindful of how often you wash your hair. Overwashing can strip your hair of its natural oils and lead to dryness and damage. Aim to wash your hair every 2-3 days, or even less times a week if your hair is on the drier side.

When you wash your hair, use a gentle shampoo and conditioner suitable for your hair type. Additionally, your scalp may produce less oil as you age, resulting in dandruff or other scalp conditions. If you notice dandruff, consider using an anti-dandruff shampoo that contains active ingredients like zinc pyrithione, ketoconazole, or salicylic acid to help control flaking and soothe the scalp.

Show Your Scalp Some Love

To achieve healthy hair growth, showing your scalp some love is essential. A healthy scalp sets the foundation for strong, lustrous hair growth. Start by keeping your scalp clean and free from buildup. Be sure to massage your scalp gently with your fingertips while shampooing to improve blood circulation and stimulate the hair follicles.

Additionally, exfoliate your scalp once a week using a scrub specifically designed for the scalp to remove dead skin cells and promote a healthier environment for hair growth. By giving your scalp the care it deserves, you'll notice stronger, shinier, and more vibrant hair in no time.

Use The Right Hair Products For Your Hair Type

Using the right hair and styling products for your specific hair type is essential for achieving healthier hair. Different hair types have different needs, so choosing products that cater to those needs is necessary.

For example, if you have fine or thin hair, look for volumizing shampoos and conditioners that can add body and lift to your hair. If you have curly or frizzy hair, choose products designed to tame and control frizz.

Additionally, consider using leave-in conditioners, hair masks, serums, or oils to provide extra moisture and nourishment to your hair. Using the right products for your hair type can help address specific concerns and improve your hair's overall health and appearance.

Hair Proud is a popular hair care product known for its high-quality shampoo and conditioner, and guess what you can find their products at Walmart! They formulate their products with nourishing ingredients that promote healthy and lustrous hair. The shampoo effectively cleanses the scalp and hair, removing impurities without stripping away essential oils. Conditioning your hair provides deep hydration and leaves the hair soft, manageable, and tangle-free.

You can enjoy a luxurious and salon-like hair care experience at home with Hair Proud shampoo and conditioner.

Protect Your Hair From Environmental Damage

The last tip in our ultimate guide to healthy hair are environmental factors as can have a significant impact on the health of your hair. Exposure to sunlight, pollution, and harsh weather conditions can all contribute to damaged hair and dryness. To protect your hair from these environmental stressors, consider wearing a hat or scarf when spending time outdoors, especially during peak sun hours. Additionally, using products with UV protection can help shield your hair from the damaging effects of the sun.

It's also important to rinse your hair thoroughly after swimming in chlorinated pools or salt water, as these can strip your hair of its natural oils.

You can maintain health and vitality by taking these steps to protect your hair from environmental damage.

Conclusion

By following these six essential tips, you can embark on a journey towards healthier hair. Nourish your hair from within, adopt a gentle washing and conditioning routine, protect your hair from excessive heat, handle it with care, and schedule regular trims. With consistent and mindful hair care practices, you can transform your hair into a crowning glory that exudes health, shine, and vitality.

How To Get Beachy Wave Curls Using A Curling Iron

How To Get Beachy Wave Curls Using A Curling Iron, Barbies Beauty Bits

Tips For Getting The Perfect Beach Wave Curls Using A Curling Iron Brought To You By Barbie's Beauty Bits. Beachy wave curls are a go-to celebrity hairstyle and have been for a while, as they look great on virtually everyone of all hair lengths, hair types, all occasions, and ages.

However, mastering those perfectly loose curls can be a daunting task. But not any longer with my top tips to Achieve Beachy Waves Curls using a Chi Haircare Lava Curl Shot! Allowing you to curl with heat and set with cool air for the perfect looking beachy wavy hair.

So if you want to find out How To Get Beach Wave Curls Using A Curling Iron, continue reading.

Mastering The Beach Wave Curl So It Is Not Prom Curls
Many of you have probably experienced creating these curls is not a walk in the park. Overdo it; you'll have big prom hair. Not the do you're going for, right?

Well, there is most certainly a science to it. But luckily, with the right hair products, curling device, technique, and good ole practice, you too will be able to master the beach waves at home.

The Best Curling Wand For Creating Beach Wave Curls
While there are a few curling iron options on the market work for this, today, I will be talking about the Curl Shot from Chi. But the key in whichever device you use is to understand the curling iron's barrel size, which can affect the curl. See below

  • For tight beach wave curls try a 3/4 inch barrel
  • 1 inch for a classic beach wave curl
  • 1 1/4 inches for loose wave curls

While I said some barrel sizes would offer tighter or looser curls, another thing to keep in mind is the longevity of the curl. I want the curls in my hair to last for at least three days; hence, I start with a tighter curl as it will loosen over time.

The Curl Shot from Chi is different from a traditional curling wand or curling iron, as it uses the approach of curl with heat and setting with cool. I've done this for years, using a hairdryer on the cool setting to set the curl. But it is challenging to get perfected, but not any longer with this curling device that does it for you.

13 Tips To The Perfect Beach Wave Curl, Barbies Beauty Bits

13 Tips To The Perfect Beach Wave Curl

  1. Prep the hair with humidity control, volumizing product, or beach spray to add grit and texture
  2. Section off hair into the top and bottom
  3. Separate strands into the left and right side
  4. Hold the curling wand upright, place a one to two-inch section of hair around the barrel
  5. For perfect beachy waves, avoid starting at the scalp. Instead, start curling the hair a few inches down the hair shaft
  6. Never curl the ends. They need to be left straight since beach waves should have a slightly undone, effortless look! SO...leave 1-2 inches of the ends of hair out of the curling device
  7. Curl AWAY from your face
  8. Hold for three to four seconds
  9. Press the cool shot button to release cool air and allow the curl to fall down the barrel of the curling iron
  10. Break up the waves with your fingers...Once the hair is completely curled and has cooled, you want to spray the texture spray on your fingers and run your finger through the waves to loosen
  11. Finish off with a humidity fighting texture spray like Redken Control Addict 28 Extra High Hold Hairspray
  12. For longevity and to prevent from you hair getting dirty quickly sleep with your hair up on your head at night.
  13. Use a dry shampoo a day after shampooing. The key is to use the dry shampoo before your hair gets dirty.
product needed for the perfect beach wave curls, barbies beauty bits

Product Needed For The Perfect Beach Wave Curl
I include this as I've tried so many products, and they never seemed to work, which is why I usually always resorted to making my own clip in hair extensions with the beachy wave. And now that I have the products that actually work when trying to create the perfect beachy wave curl, I'm gonna share!

I learned something the other day from a new stylist. She explained that while many of us may want to spray a hair spray to hold the hair in place and then later brush out, if using a spray that leaves the hair hard, when you go to brush it out or even run your fingers through it, you can pull out the curl. With that, below are some products I suggest to get the beach waves hairstyle.

Beach Wave Curling Iron/Curling Wand

CHI's cool shot curling iron instantly sets the curls and makes the style last longer. The ergonomic design allows you to style your hair with less tension and twists easily. The barrel also makes this curling device unique as it is sourced from some of the most effective heat-conducting materials; volcanic lava. Combined with the power of CHI ceramic allows for voluminous, shiny, long-lasting curls without the damaging effects of some other high-heat styling tools on the market.

Best Texture Spray For A Beach Wave Curl

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray found on Amazon

Best Surf Spray For A Beach Wave Look

In addition to the texture spray to help to get beach waves hair, I also like a good Surf Spray from Bumble and Bumble (which is just sea salt spray, really). You do not need both. CLICK HERE TO GET $10 OFF

Hair Clip

To hold your hair up, duh.

Humidity Resistant Hairspray

Redken Control Addict 28 Extra High Hold Hairspray

Dry Shampoo

Many do not know this but the tip to using dry shampoo it to use it the day after you wash it. Do not wait until it is dirty. My favorite Dry Shampoo is Klorane

Top Four Tips To Repair Winter Damaged Hair

When it comes to caring for your hair in winter, there are some things to take into consideration. When the effects of artificial indoor heating combine with the cold, wind and rain, your locks can easily become stressed, and that’s why knowing how to repair them is so important. From learning about what you need to do when there are signs of distress to being proactive about preventing damage, let’s check out some of the best ways of looking after your hair in winter.

Four Top Tips To Prevent And Repair Winter-Damaged Hair

Replace Lost Moisture
We all know that the combination of cold weather and dry heat can play havoc with our hair in the winter and cause it to dry out. But fear not, you can replace lost moisture as long as you know what to do. Whenever you wash your hair, it’s vital to condition it, and use a leave-in conditioning treatment or hair mask to replenish the lost moisture once a week. If you want to know how to get shiny hair, hair masks and deep conditioning treatments are undoubtedly two of the best ways to achieve that. If you’re interested in learning more about how to get shiny hair you’ll find more advice here.

Tips to add moisture to dry damaged winter hair but Barbies Beauty Bits

Embrace Essential Oils
In addition to your hair getting damaged and drying out, your scalp can be prone to the same issues in winter. And just like conditioners rich in essential oils which can help rejuvenate your hair they can also boost the health of your scalp. Oils like rosemary, peppermint and coconut can all provide moisture, and they can also help in many other ways too. Some oils contain antiseptic qualities to boost scalp health, some can increase blood flow to stimulate hair follicles, and others can reduce the chance of dandruff also. Just make sure you mix them with a carrier like virgin oil and test on a small area before diving straight in.

Cover Up
This one sits right across the prevention and cure border. By covering up before your hair has become stressed out you’re going to be lessening the chances of that occurring. Covering up after the damage has occurred will give your hair a better chance of repairing itself. Whether it’s a warm hat or headscarf, put it on when you know you’re heading out into the cold weather and your hair will much appreciate it. Just be careful that whatever you’re wearing isn’t too tight, as that could increase the risk of winter frizz.

Be Pro-active
Prevention can indeed be better than cure in many ways, and these preventative measures will certainly help:
  • Go easy on the heat: Styling tools and excessively hot water can dry out hair, so use your tongs, straighteners and blow dryer sparingly. Also, rinse your hair in warm or cool water, rather than hot
  • Don’t over shampoo: Just like the heat, excessive shampooing can really dry out hair
  • Regular trims: Fight the split end issue by getting your hair trimmed regularly, and certainly when you see any damage
Even if you haven’t followed these guidelines and your hair has become a bit frazzled, taking them on board now will give your hair a better chance of recovery.

Signs Of Aging Hair And How To Treat It

Signs Of Aging Hair And How To Treat It By Barbies Beauty Bits

As we get older like everything else with our body our hair changes, from dry hair to grays and worse thinning hair.  It seems when most people think of anti-aging they think of the skin. But our hair is also important.

As our hair ages, it starts to get dryer, and this is one thing that I have noticed about my hair. I have always spent tons of time on my hair, so having it look good is a must for me.  This is why I was excited when I had the chance to partner up with Kenra Professional Hair Products and try out some of their newest anti-aging hair care.

So, if you want to find out some of the most common signs of aging hair and how you can treat it continue reading.

Signs Your Hair Is Aging
As mentioned about as we get older our hair will start to get dryer and brittle it also begins to show evidence of volume loss and shine, elasticity, and texture change. Additionally, those evil grays become more prominent.  This is another thing that was happening to me, and this is why I went from a lifetime of being a brunette to a blond, as it is much easier to cover. And if all of that wasn’t bad enough you may start to deal with thinning hair. So what is a girl to do?

First, you need to look at a few things as aside from age as there can be some contributing factors to your aging hair.

Styling Products
One of the things to consider is the arsenal of products you are putting into your hair. If you are styling your hair with gel, mousse or similar products, it would be a good idea to wash these off your scalp and out of your hair before you lay down to rest for the night. These products can be very drying, and some of them can clog pores, which could result in hair loss.

Another thing to consider about your hair products are the products themselves.  The ingredients in your hair care products are essential, plus don’t cheap out when it comes to your hair products, as quality does make a difference. Snail Anti-Aging Shampoo & Conditioner
Heavy shampoo’s and conditioner can contribute to weighing our hair down.  I liked that this shampoo was a sulfate-free formula that helps to provide softness and youthful movement by restoring shine and prolonging agility of the hair at any age. And the conditioner is a lighter conditioner, so it doesn’t make your hair greasy or weigh it down, which is important as I do not wash my hair every day.  The conditioner helps to restore manageability and prolongs youth by bringing moisture, radiance, and resilience to the hair.

Kenra Snail Anti-Aging CC Creme
This product is applied after you towel dry your hair and is a great detangler as well. You can use this cc cream by itself or as a foundation for the layering of your other paraben free styling products.

Kenra Platinum Heat Block Spray
Hair breakage is a significant contributor to thin hair and combine that with a hot styling tool, your hair is doomed! A quick way to prevent your hair from getting damaged is to apply a heat protector on your hair. And Kenra’s new Heat Block Spray is here to help. Enriched with bee propolis, this natural resin forms a cast around the cuticle for exceptional heat protection up to 450°F (232°C).

I am an 80’s girl, so I love me some hairspray, but it can be damaging to the hair because of alcohol and other harmful ingredients. But not with Kenra’s hairsprays as it is alcohol-free.

Stop Overdoing The Do
Don’t Wash Your Hair Everyday
Keeping your hair clean is important, but washing it too often can thin your hair.  The longer you can go without washing your hair the better!

Don’t Brush Your Hair While It Is Wet
If your hair is wet, keep the brush away. Instead, use a t-shirt to dry your hair, and let it air dry prior to brushing. When wet, the follicles of your hair lose some of their strength and are more easily damaged. Your hair will be more likely to fall out prematurely if you are in the habit of brushing it while it is still wet.

Don't Over Dry
Blowing drying your hair all the time can cause your hair to become brittle and flat.  Partially air drying your hair will allow your hair to be stronger. Overexposure to heat on your hair can make your hair look dull, as the heat from the dryer causes the cuticles to open, which can lead to frizz and breakage.  A tip to save on drying time, don’t apply conditioner to your entire hair, only apply to the ends of your hair.

Diet
In addition to having quality products, one of the simplest ways to keep your hair healthy and strong is through your diet. Eat foods that have a lot of vitamin A and E. These help with hair. Your hair can regain its strength by also supplementing your diet with olive oil, fish, and walnuts.

Additionally, certain vitamins, minerals, and healthful fats are necessary for healthy hair. Some that you want to include are vitamins C and E, and the minerals biotin and zinc.

Tips To Help With Thinning Hair By Barbies Beauty Bits
Thinning Hair
Thinning hair sucks ass, but I did read somewhere that you can help to prevent hair loss by adding capsicum from spicy foods in your diet as they are supposed to help increase circulation.  A known spice that contains capsicum is cayenne pepper, and from what I have heard it could stimulate some hair growth, and contribute to strengthening hair follicles. I do know that cayenne peppers also have a lot of vitamin A, and that is useful for reducing any hair problems as well as maintaining general health.

Foods that are high in protein can also slow the process of hair loss. Eating the right amount of healthy protein will bring about much needed keratin for your hair. When you have plenty of keratin in your body, the hair will be strong and healthy.

Bottom line, your hair is like a record of what you've put into your body. So while you can't actually nourish your existing strands with nutrition, remember that your hair is replacing itself all the time, so eventually using the correct products along with a healthy diet will help to renew your aging hair back to life.

Want some try some anti-aging products for your hair? Well now you can, as all product mentioned are available at Ulta Beauty!

Tips and Tricks for Making Your Limp, Thinning Hair Thicker With RevivHair Placode Booster

Tips and Tricks for Making Your Limp, Thinning Hair Thicker With RevivHair Placode by barbies beauty bits

Thinning hair is not just a problem for men; it is something that women can also experience. And with this modelesque generation portrayed in magazines and reality TV shows, for women, it can be a real blow to your self-esteem.

I was surprised to read that the average age for females dealing with thinning hair is 25 to 35 and not just later in life due to menopausal changes.  Some statistics show that one in four women have thinning hair, for other reasons like stress and genetics.

Additionally, thinning hair for women is different than in men.  You see men lose hair in bald patterns, while women lose volume, making it harder to treat and camouflage.  Despite this thinning hair, it does not sentence you to a life of dull and unstylish tresses. In fact, there are several things that you can do to camouflage these areas.

So if you want to find out how you can make your hair thicker continue reading.

For this post, I have partnered up with RevivSerums.com, located in beautiful San Francisco California.  This company specializes in unique and innovative clinical treatment serums, one being their first-of-its-kind scalp cosmetic topical, the RevivHair Placode Booster Serum.

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Reviv Serums.  All tips are my own!

RevivHair Placode Booster Serum
This cruelty-free scalp cosmetic topical serum has thickeners in it to include Niacinamide, Caffeine, Panthenol and unique polymers that can help with densifying and revitalizing the hair. According to their website this leave-in booster serum is targeted at reducing hair loss and encouraging new hair growth; it helps boost the development of healthy hair follicles, lessen thinning hair, strengthen fibers against breakage, and thicken existing hair strands for fuller-looking and thicker-feeling hair.

How To Use The Hair Booster Serum
The product is very easy to use and derived from all natural ingredients, which is a plus in my book. It is a once-daily application, about one to two droppers. The RevivHair 60 mL bottle is supposed to last between 37 to 75 days since a full dropper dispenses 0.8 mL.

Statics on the RevivHair Placode Booster Serum
  • In a 60-day, 23-person consumer study of Placode Booster Serum, 87% of consumers tested noted a reduction in the appearance of falling hair.
  • 92% agreed that their hair appeared thicker or healthier
  • 74% of testers also saw a decrease in the appearance of thinning scalp areas; 92% said their hair seemed fuller or more supple.

Some other Tips and Tricks for Making Your Limp, Thinning Hair Thicker
Aside from adding a hair thickening product like the RevivHair Placode Booster into your hair care regimen, there are also some other tricks that you can add to help your hair appear lush and thick.

Salon & Style Tricks
A style Redo: One of the best ways to conceal thinning hair is with a hairstyle that will add a lot of texture and layers to your hair.  This may mean cutting it short, WTF??? I know.  If you are a long hair fan like myself and having thinning hair, you may need to try a shorter style, as long hair tends to draw more attention to those thinning areas.  Scary I know, as it feels like a catch 22, with thin hair and now I need to cut it?  But shorter hair can add a lot of texture and movement to your style while at the same time making your hair appear thicker.  Longer hair, on the other hand, can draw attention to the problem areas.

Color: Not only does color add more body and thickness to your thinning hair, but it can also be used to draw the eye away from unusually thin spots. You want to have a double-process, as a single process can make your hair appear dull and flat.  So using a combination of lowlights, highlights, and color accents, your stylist can do wonders for your thinning hair!

The Flip:  Yeah I know this can be scary as you don’t want to look like DONALD TRUMP! We are not talking about a comb over here, but rather changing up the direction of your part! You see our hair becomes trained laying in the same position for years, so changing it up by flipping your part to the other side can add some instant volume.

Speaking about parts, if you are like me a part can show some of my thinning, so a style without a harsh, prominent part can also work wonders.

Hair Styling Products
There are a wide variety of hair styling products on the market that can be used to conceal thinning, limp hair. Products such as thickening powders, shampoos and conditioners can do a lot for thinning hair. Also, products like dry shampoos and texturing spray are a must to add volume.  YOU WANT TO stay away from products that can weigh your hair down, so get with your stylist, to see what they recommend, DON’T CHEAP OUT.

Tips to help women who are losing their hair by barbies beauty bits and revivhair placode booster

Using products with the wrong Ingredients: You want to stay away from products with sulfates in them as these are harsh and drying on the hair and scalp.

Styling Tools
Aside from a haircut and products, you can also make your hair appear thicker by adding some volume to the crown.  You can do this with some Velcro rollers.  Just place the rollers in your dry hair and make sure to use a texturing spray.  Blow with some warm air from the hair dryer and set with cool!

Stop Adding To It
There are things that you can be doing to add to the issue of thinning, limp hair. One can be over blow drying your hair. Also, if you are one that uses a brush to dry the hair, the continual pulling, and tugging on the hair can contribute to your hair loss, so stop.  Instead, try air drying your hair some and finish with the brush. Hence you are limiting the exposure of the constant pulling and heat exposure.

As you can see, none of these thinning hair remedies are complicated. Simply by learning how to best style your thinning hair and learning to use the right products, like the RevivHair Placode Booster you can do a great deal to make your hair look like it is both chic and thick.

Wanna try some for yourself?  Well, now you can as Reviv Serum is offering YOU a chance to win this hair booster for yourself!

Top 10 Beauty Mistakes, You Probably Didn't Even Know You're Making

Top 10 Beauty Mistakes, You Probably Didn't Even Know You're Making, By Barbie's Beauty Bits

I get so many questions and more so statements, saying how did you know that. Or I’ve been doing that wrong all along.  Yes, beauties, we’ve all been there, even myself!  While there is a list of mistakes I see daily, I wanted to share with you the top 10  Beauty Mistakes I see people make most often.  From hair to makeup, these beauty mistakes need to stop right now, and I can help you!

Hair

Using A Towel To Dry Your Hair:   Drying your hair with a towel leaves your hair frizzy and can damage the hair.  Instead of using a towel swap it out with a t-shirt.  A towel absorbs most of the moisture from your hair leaving it frizzy.

Using a t-shirt instead is better as is it flat with no roof edges, so it glides right through your hair with less friction. Less friction equals less frizz and damage!

Washing Your Hair With Hot Water: A nice hot shower is so relaxing, especially in the winter months! But it is important that we keep it cool, which is the opposite of what we want to do. Unfortunately, hot water can wash away the skin's natural oils, leaving us with dry, brittle hair.  Instead, you want to try to use warm water to rinse the hair and then for the last few seconds, zap it with some cold water to help seal the cuticle, making your locks appear smoother and healthier!

Using A Bobby Pin Incorrectly: What? There is actually a wrong way? Yes, there is a proper way to use a bobby pin. And is wasn't until a few years ago, I learned this from my hair stylist; and according to her most women she has dealt with, have been using them incorrectly.

The correct way to use a bobby pin is to insert it into your hair with the wavy side down. The wavy side is designed so it will grab your hair and situate it properly.  The flat side, is what pushes the hair into the groove, holding it in place. So there, you have it, simple yet powerful.

Skincare

Neglecting Your Neck: As I say Turkey neck is for the birds, but unfortunately if you are like me, the neck seems to be one area I have neglected in years past.  I think it is important that you understand that you’re best anti-aging facial cream may not work on your neck area, sucks I know!

You see most of these facial products are formulated to target wrinkles that occur on the thinner skinned areas, like our face.  The lines on our neck and décolletage are usually deeper, and the skin is much thicker.  Plus the older we are the skin can become looser.  Hence, the term turkey neck and this sagging skin area are so darn hard to treat. The key to addressing this zone is to select a product that has agents that help to firm and tighten the skin. In addition to tightening, the product should also penetrate deeply, which is why a facial cream will not work on your neck!

Sleeping With Your Makeup On:  I’ve also been guilty of this.  But a great friend of mine who is an Aesthetician explained to me why this is a big no, no. You see when we go to sleep we are renewing our body, mind and more, which includes the skin. Wearing makeup to bed prevents your skin from this renewal process.  It can also contribute to clogging your pores and outbreaks.

Why you shouldn't sleep with your makeup on, by Barbie's Beauty Bits

Not Exfoliating:  Exfoliating our skin is so essential. You see, our skin is constantly subjected to dirt, environmental pollutants and of course makeup.  All of this leaves a film on our face acting as a barrier to skincare products.  This buildup can leave us with an uneven skin tone, roughness, and creates false wrinkles; it can also clog our pores, causing breakouts. Yuk, I know! And if that wasn't bad enough, all of these will also make us appear older!  So by implementing exfoliation into your skincare regimen, you are going to help to buff away those dead skin cells, revealing a more radiant, healthy-looking skin.  Plus, it will be easier for the skin to absorb moisturizers and other skin treatments.  Lastly, it is going to leave the skin smooth for the perfect makeup application.

Makeup

Not Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes: Let's first start with the fact that our makeup brushes can harbor bacteria and dead skin cells, YUKO, and who wants to put that on their skin, NOT ME!  But, if you are NOT cleaning your makeup brushes regularly this is exactly what you are doing.

Properly washing and storing them can keep your face clean & healthy. Furthermore, cleaning your makeup brushes will ensure they remain in the best shape and increase longevity. Makeup brushes are just as important as the makeup itself, so taking care of them is essential.

Using Makeup Brushes That Come With Your Drugstore Brands: You want to stay away from brushes that come with the drugstore brands; they are inferior quality and the bristles usually fall out on your eyelids.

Lastly, you want to make sure that you avoid sponge applicators, as they absorb a lot of product.

Your goal is to get the product on your eye, not the applicator. (in the long run, brushes end up saving you money)

The importance of cleaning your makeup brushes by Barbie's Beauty Bits

Not Using Primer: I explain primer in makeup, the same way, I would with a house.  Similar to the primer that you would apply to a wall before painting, you want to do the same with your eyes and face.  Primer allows the color to adhere better, last longer, with little transparency and minimal fading.  Also, if you have an excellent primer, it will prevent creasing and false wrinkles.

When does your makeup expire by Barbie's Beauty Bits

Using Expired Makeup: Holding on to your favorite makeup can be a big no, no. Like everything else in life, there comes a time you need to purge it! Unfortunately, it is not as easy as most other products, where an expiration date is printed on them or the packaging.  According to, the FDA website, cosmetic companies are not required to print expiration dates on the labels of their cosmetic products.  It is, however, left up to the manufacturers to determine the suggested shelf life of a product.  This shelf life is something you need to pay attention to, and I have listed some of them below.
